Vietnam Wish America waits for the U.S. maritime patrol aircraft to lift the arms ban restrictions

According to the China Defense Science and Technology Information Network reported that Vietnam has a long-range maritime patrol aircraft’s needs, but if it wants to purchase the aircraft from the United States (such as the P-3), then it would require the U.S. government to lift the ban on sale of the Vietnamese Communist regime deadly weapon system limitations.
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Defence on the 2nd to the correspondents in Singapore, said: “The Vietnamese know that the U.S. military is the world’s most advanced equipment, but now talking about purchasing US-made equipment too early, because the United States to Vietnam with a deadly weapon system lock-up restrictions ; Vietnam has placed the issue of the arms embargo on the desktop, you need the U.S. to make a political decision; if the arms embargo can not be canceled, indicating that mutual trust between the two countries can not. ”
Because the U.S. Congress on Vietnam’s human rights record is still not satisfied, the recent lifting of the arms embargo in Vietnam less likely.
Vietnam need to purchase maritime patrol aircraft with anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capabilities, the aircraft be equipped with sonar detection systems, anti-ship missiles and torpedoes, already considering models including Airbus Military’s C295 and Lockheed Martin’s P-3. Theoretically, Vietnam can purchase for P-3 maritime patrol and surveillance, but the plane can not equip weapons systems. Vietnam has performed with the Russian-made helicopter ASW missions.
